GAFE Roll Out

With the onset of access to multiple technology tools for learning, the district embarked last year on its journey to make Google tools available for each student. With GAFE students now have access to their content 24/7, they can collaborate with their peers, and easily turn in assignments and receive feedback from their teachers. It is important to note that the support for the teachers is important as it is with introducing any new tool or resource. Beginning in the spring of 2016, teachers and district staff have been afforded the opportunity to attend professional development sessions in Google Drive, Google Classroom, Google Calendar, and more. Many staff gave up days out of their summer vacation to get the necessary training that they needed to get up to speed for the start of the 2016-17 school year. Teachers hit the ground running with the powerful Google Classroom tool to manage their course material, assignment, and grading. Both students and teachers have shared positive results of being able to use Google Classroom and the new Google Form quiz feature. Administrators are also finding the Google tools powerful, as they are able to share and collaborate on documents and calendars with others across the district.
