Getting Back in the Grove - First Five Days

After a busy, hot, and always too short summer it is time for administrators, teachers, and staff to get back into the classroom and prepare our students to be productive citizens and contributors to a global society. Most students will come in bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, hanging on our every word as we establish norms and procedures for the classrooms, cafeterias, buses, and other spaces our students occupy. The students who may not be ready to get back into full swing may be a little resistant to get back into norms and routines in the classroom, but it is important that we help all students understand that as educators we are here to foster a nurturing and collaborative, learning environment.

Remember the first five days are some of the most critical ones. Front-load all of the tools and resources the students will need to know to be successful in your classrooms throughout the school year. Once the initial trainings are complete, students will have the opportunity to be creative and use the tools to demonstrate their understanding. Have a great first five days and school year EHT staff.
