Mindset - Strive for Greatness and Encourage Curiosity
Growth mindset is based on the understanding that we can continually improve. Leadership characteristics are not always inherited, but they are based on handwork, grit, and continual learning and development. It is better to always want to continuously grow, rather than accept the status quo and just settle for doing good. This translates into the classroom as well. When students don't just accept an answer or challenge a teachers' thoughts and ideas it is because they or curious or sometimes just because they are being ornery, but let us as educators not take this as an opportunity to become defensive and retaliate with punishment or resentment because we are upset that someone has questioned our judgement. We should cease these opportunities as teachable moments for the students in our classes. After all, the true power of education is learning how to learn, so allowing the students to question and discover can offer a world of knowledge to our students.
